I'm a huge fan of the series too, but I have to say, Colfer's book is worth a read. It's not quite the same, true, but it's still very well-written.

SO i had my second day of marching band camp today. I never realized how many freakin wimps there were in this band. "I can't believe you're complaining and vomiting erratically! You showed up an hour late, and play the flute. I showed up on time, and carry a fu*king 30 pound drum on my shoulders, and you don't see me b*tching about this!"

Anyways, at 3 (about two hours from now) I have to back to work a DCI show until midnight, then I gotta go home and wake back up a six and do it all again.

I don't know how your program works, but seriously, it's one of the funnest aspects of my summer. And it should be really easy to get stories from it. Hell, I got like, four, just from today. Like how I argued with a drum major over Pawn Stars, or how I BLASTED Rush from my friend's car speakers, or the discussion with the other drum major about how i was supposed to go and swim over at her house every day, or like how we had all these flute players b*tching about the heat, or like (gonna just stop here)

2. Can your bass line split sixes?

1. No, though percussion camp has been going on for a week before now, so if it's some kind of drum-related thing, that doesn't mean it hasn't come up.

2. I don't think we have a bass line, though I assume we should. If we DO have bass drums, they have yet to make an appearance. Perhaps that just comes later. As to their ability to split sixes, I have no idea.

1. DCI, as i think i mentioned several random thoughts ago, is professional marching bad. Hey look here's a link!

2. Yeah, our basses pretty much practiced splitting sixes instead of our actual show music today. As our tech said: "I was gonna be mad, but those sounded pretty good." Anyways, I would be shocked if you guys didn't have a bass line. Sometimes bands don't march tenors, but they always ALWAYS march a bass line. I don't know, maybe you aren't looking hard enough (although, they shouldn't be too hard to spot.)
