Brought to you by Gunsmack Malt Liquor, it's...
Wheelie's Random Topic of the Whenever!
I'm aware that, in this day and age, every business, establishment, and public restroom is expected to have Facebook and Twitter. It's the norm, and even though I use neither site, I accept it. But there's one type of business that I always assumed was immune to the trend. That's right...
Amish Businesses.
So imagine my surprise when I find out that the local Amish restaurant has Facebook and Twitter. It's right on their menu. This of course raises questions:
Who updates this thing? And for that matter, who set it up? We eat there enough for me to know that every employee there is Amish. It's not like they have a non-Amish waitress that offered to spread the word on homestyle cookin'. Does the manager have a cousin in the city that operates it? Does she send out a letter to him every time there's a new special or something? I mean, it's not like phone calls are an option. What if the letter is late? What happens when people come in for the chicken special they read about on Twitter, only to find out it ended two days ago?
And don't think that I'm making fun of the Amish. I'm genuinely curious. Is there some rule that Amish people are allowed to use the internet if it's to Twitter about a restaurant?
I mean, I guess I could ask them on Twitter or Facebook, but they might not get back to me for a good week.

The top of that ought to read, "updated more regularly than Town Hall or BLEmails, it's..."
Also, what's the restaraunt's name? Actually having a Facebook account, I can see what's what. Or who's who. And sometimes why.

As far as the restaurant's name, I'm actually not sure. Their menus say "Der Dutchman", but the outside of the building says "Amish House". I don't remember which one they used for the Facebook. I'll try and remember to see next time we eat there.
And did I mention that this is the same place where the old people sat down at our table a few months ago?

Well, I think I can solve your mystery, Wheelie. Here's the page, for those of you with Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Der-Dutchman/119503071410213?v=desc&ref=ts
And at the bottom of the page, it has this disclaimer:
Will you quit looking at the girl and pay attention?! Try to act like we're all gentlemen here.
For those of you who can't see the image, it says that this page is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, anyone associated with the topic. So somebody else, who presumably ISN'T Amish, made the Facebook group.
Also, I know it's the right place 'cause it talks about being in Ohio.

Won Ice Station Santa today.
A lot better than the original games in hilarity, but had the same puzzle problems (easy as heck-the only time I had trouble with a puzzle was when I over-thought it.) I loved the ending, though.
Also, my Collector's Disk arrived today, a mere four days after I ordered it. Which is pretty sweet, considering that my Tales of Monkey Island Collector's Disk took over a month after they said they would ship it.

I finally realized today what my favorite dinosaur is. It seems like I should have done this a while ago though so it is a bittersweet victory.
